What Are Ferrite Magnets?

What are ferrite magnets?

Ferrite magnets are permanent magnets mainly made of SrO or BaO and Fe2O3. Compared with other permanent magnets, ferrite magnets are hard and brittle, and have lower magnetic energy. However, it is not easy to demagnetize and corrosion, the production process is simple and the price is low. Therefore, the output of ferrite magnets is the highest in the entire magnet industry and is widely used in industrial production.

What are the characteristics of ferrite magnets?

Cheapest magnet material

Good anti-corrosion performance, no need to surface treatment.

Best temperature stability

Best choice for industrial application

All shapes can be customized

Provide isotropic and anisotropic

How ferrite magnets are made?

Ceramic magnets are manufactured using powder technology techniques. The primary raw material – ferrite – is made by using iron oxide and strontium carbonate. These materials are mixed together and then elevated in temperature to 1800-2000 degrees F. At this temperature they undergo a chemical conversion and the resulting material is ferrite.

Two manufacturing Process

1. Dry process: By dry process, can produce isotropic & anisotropic magnets;the tool can be changed and developed easily.

2. Wet process: By wet process, only anisotropic magnets can be produced;it is complicated to change the tool and the tooling charge is much higher

What are the ways to magnetize ferrite?

1.Isotropic ferrite magnets are not oriented and can be magnetized in any direction;

2.Anisotropic ferrite magnets are different, they are all oriented in the manufacturing direction, and should be magnetized in the direction of orientation.
